In 2017, we spent an entire week (July 31-August 5, 2017) in Detroit—specifically in the Central High Schoolarea—to help, pro bono, the non-profit Life Remodeled with executing their planned “remodeling” of the surrounding neighborhood. We were responsible for the design and production of promotional brochures and flyers, signage, banners,t-shirt graphics, social media channel graphics, website updates, capturing the project photographically. Most of the graphics work was done before the ‘build week’, and most of the photography and filming was done during the week-long ‘campaign’.
Here’s a list of the project’s major accomplishments:
– Began renovating and repurposing the former Durfee Elementary-Middle School building (adjacent to Central High School) into a ‘community center’ they are calling the “Durfee Innovation Society”
– 534 Vacant Houses Boarded Up
– 367 Blocks of Blight Removal
– 53 Student Houses Repaired/Remodeled
– Continuing to develop meaningful and sustainable partnerships to advance community investment after project completion
This was an unbelievable effort performed by over 11,000 volunteers—in just 6 days—and has been valued at over $5M!
The following are selected photos that represent the over 7,500 photos (click here to view) we, and a team of photographers, took to capture all of the activities during the ‘build week’:

Visual Impact Systems provided The Evangelical Covenant Church with a promotional video for a “pre-gather” event called “Impact Detroit” (Gather ’17). This will see thousands come together in Detroit, MI, before their Annual Meeting, to attend workshops and perform public services—like restoring a local park, putting together food and clothing packages for low-income people, and providing medical and dental care with a mobile clinic.
We helped develop the ‘theme’ and script, set up a backdrop and lighting at the client location to capture the interviews, and did on-location videography of the service locations and Detroit monuments. We then gathered related images, drone video of Detroit, and the soundtrack. We then did all the color correction, created some motion graphics and lower third titling, a few infographics, and edited it all together. We then uploaded the final video to their YouTube and Vimeo channels.
To make it easy for you to browse some of the videos we have produced, they are presented on our website in the following categories: Capabilities; Conference; Documentary; Event; Miscellaneous; Motion Graphics; Promotional; and Teaching Aid. Visual Impact Systems helped Nifco America with creating a portable ‘exhibition’ that they will set up in a building on the ‘campus’ of many of the major automotive manufacturers. This allows the executives and engineers to have direct interaction with Nifco engineers in a relaxed atmosphere, while being more convenient and productive since they don’t have to travel to a convention center and spend time away from the office. We provided a “BigFabric” pop-up display, “QuickScreen 3” retractable displays, “BannerStand” non-retractable displays, and a “PodiumCase” shipping case, all from Expand International. We also created a customized banner stand with Velcro fabric (instead of a graphic), so they could change/customize the graphics for each different customer they exhibit for. In addition to the displays, we constructed two interactive kiosks using products from ELO, BrightSign, and McRae Imaging, then produced a sequence of videos showing Nifco capabilities. Coordinated table covers and customized promotional items were also provided.
Before they went to their first customer, we provided them with the 3D rendering of the layout (and a floor plan to use for set up), to show them what their exhibition would look like and how it would fit into the customer’s atrium space. (Real exhibition set-up shown below).

As we did last year, we spent all last week (August 11-17) in Detroit—specifically in the “Cody-Rouge” area—to help, pro bono, the non-profit “Life Remodeled” with executing their planned “makeover” of Cody High School and the surrounding neighborhood. We were responsible for some of the media relations, the design and production of promotional materials, signage, banners, t-shirt graphics, social media channel headers, the posting TV and radio media coverage, and capturing the project photographically. Most of the graphic work was done before the ‘build week’, and most of the the photography was done during the week-long ‘campaign’ (we will do some photography of the “tour” that will be given after the build week, to show the completion of the new ‘special’ rooms and overall ‘clean-up’ of Cody High School).
Life Remodeled’s goals were to build four “special” rooms at Cody High School, renovate 20 student houses (new roofs, new siding, replacing windows and stairs, etc.), board up 100 vacant houses, and “beautify” 100 city blocks (remove blight, trim trees, cut grass, plant flowers, etc.)—all in SIX DAYS! On the seventh day, Sunday, August 17, 2014, at their celebration, they noted that they exceeded all of their goals: More ‘renovations’ were done inside Cody than planned; they remodeled 25 student houses; boarded up 254 vacant houses; demolished three dangerous houses; and beautified 303 city blocks! This was an unbelievable effort performed by over 10,500 volunteers—the largest volunteer effort in recent Detroit history.

We produced a carburetor “inspection and repair” video for Walbro Engine Management of Cass City, Michigan.
We provided all the video production on this project—green screen ‘matting’, color correction, titling, animation, audio sweetening, editing, distribution, and packaging of the final product on USB drives.
The video was shot, directed and produced by Robert Zeichner, and project managed by Suzi Lee of That Color (Milford, Michigan).
The following is a ‘sampling’ of the 21-minute video [ Note: To purchase this entire video (“Inspecting and Repairing Diaphragm Carburetors” – Part No. 500-525), visit their parts page on their web site at http://www.walbro.com/parts-service.aspx or call them at (989) 872-2131 ].

This video shows examples, and presents testimonials for Nozer Buchia‘s work as an author, speaker, entrepreneur, business coach, and life coach.
His latest and second book, “Roadmap To Success,” was co-authored with Ken Blanchard and Dr. Deepak Chopra. In this book, he emphasizes the fact that success is always within one’s reach, as long as one has the dedication, determination and the drive to get there. The reader is encouraged to challenge the way it has always been done, and is guided along the path to success.
His first book, “Why Entrepreneurs REALLY Fail,” was written just for college and university students venturing down the entrepreneurial path as a career after their initial education—or those that want to rewrite the rules of the game and are not just content to follow—but want to lead.
The video also shows examples of Nozer’s speeches—worldwide—from all around the U.S. to India, and to the United Arab Emirates.
Nozer has coached a variety of entrepreneurs with their start-up businesses, and also established companies with sales and organizational issues.
Nozer has also done life coaching for many people, namely Mike James, NBA basketball player for the Chicago Bulls, and has even donated his time in helping college students prepare for life.
The video also show Nozer’s community service, working with “The Inner Change Freedom Initiative” program through the “Prison Fellowship,” the “CAST” program through the Sugar Land, Texas police department, and the “Caring Kids” program in Detroit, Michigan.
This video highlights Nozer’s capabilities for motivational speeches, keynote presentations, leadership seminars, strategic planning, management consulting, team building, group mentoring,1-on-1 coaching, communication skills, and personal development.

We spent all last week (July 29-Aug 4) in Detroit—specifically in the “New Center North” area—to help, pro bono, the non-profit “Life Remodeled” with executing their planned “makeover” of a 48-block neighborhood. We were responsible for all the media and public relations, the design and production of all the promotional materials and signage, and capturing the week-long ‘project’ photographically. We also helped procure the well-deserved “Spirit of Detroit” award given to an organization being honored for an outstanding achievement in service to the citizens of Detroit.
Their goals were to build a brand-new house, renovate 24 other houses (new roofs, new siding, replacing windows and stairs, etc.), board up 150 vacant houses, and “beautify” 48 city blocks (remove blight, trim trees, cut grass, plant flowers, etc.)—all in SIX DAYS! On the seventh day, Sunday, August 4, 2013, at their celebration, they noted that they exceeded all of their goals: The house received the “certificate of occupancy”; they renovated 36 houses; boarded up over 200 houses; and beautified 65 blocks!—an unbelievable effort performed by over 5,300 volunteers.
The following are a representation of the over 4,000 photos we took to capture all of the activities:

Life Remodeled is similar to “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” where the house is built in six days—but, they take a more ‘holistic’ approach. What good is a free new home if you can’t maintain the lifestyle necessary to keep it? So, Life Remodeled counsels all families in personal money management, careers, spiritual guidance, and psychological issues for a period of three years—after which, if the family has paid their property taxes and utilities on time, and has kept the house in good repair, they are allowed to purchase the house for just one dollar!
In addition to the house, volunteers ‘extend’ the makeover concept by helping the surrounding neighbors with needs they have—general house repairs, painting, roofing, building wheelchair ramps and repairing stairs, tree trimming, debris removal, landscaping, gardening, and general beautification to ‘remodel’ the entire neighborhood! In the past two years, Life Remodeled has successfully completed five other brand new houses, and given them to deserving families.

We think the non-profit “Life Remodeled” is absolutely fabulous, and have done some pro bono work for their Detroit “build” this summer (as well as for the previous five ‘builds’ they did). We created an overview flyer, Powerpoint presentation, t-shirt artwork, a press release, signage, and helped video the “reveal” telling the family they were selected to receive the house.

Many metro Detroit area organizations have committed volunteers, materials, and finances to this project. Business like Quicken Loans, GM, Ford, Allied Building Products, Barton Malow, Carrier Air Conditioning, DTE Energy, The Tapco Group, and others have partnered with Life Remodeled to support the effort. In addition to businesses, non-profits like Central Detroit Christian, Vanguard Development, Arise Detroit!, Detroit Rescue Mission, E.A.C.H., Wayne State, World Vision and others have also joined in. Metro area churches like Evangel Ministries, Inner City Ministries, Life Changers International, Northridge, Oak Pointe, Second Ebenezer, Ward, Woodside and others have also committed finances and volunteers to the project. [ They all want to show the nation that the “Spirit of Detroit” is not only a statue downtown, but a passion in all ‘Detroiters’ for helping people in need, and reclaiming the ‘glory’ this city once experienced ].
This summer’s project will be the largest in Life Remodeled’s history, and is expected to have over 5,000 volunteers transform a Detroit neighborhood, building a brand new house, renovating 24 others, boarding up at least 150 vacant houses, and “beautifying” 48 city blocks—all in six days! All this will be happening NEXT WEEK from JULY 29th – AUGUST 4th, 24×7.

It was about the previous five ‘builds’ we helped “Life Remodeled” with, pro bono (i.e. “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 2.0″).
[ Note: The format for Pecha-Kucha is 20 slides automatically changing every 20 seconds! (no ‘do-overs’ or ‘dawdling’ allowed!) ]. Click on the image below to see the presentation.
